USA Based Guyanese Sackicharra Singh, who attended the just concluded Pan American and Caribbean Powerlifting Championships says he was very impressed by the prowess of several of the junior Guyanese lifters especially Vijai Rahim.
The Berbice based Rahim proved yet again that he is a world class athlete by capturing medals at the Open and Junior levels. His performances so impressed Singh that he decided to present Rahim
with a much needed Bench Press suit.
Singh is no stranger to the sport, his brother who is also based in the USA, Guyanese Nairanjan Singh is also a powerlifter and currently the oldest Guyanese actively involved in the sport. Nairanjan Singh, who competes in the Masters III Category (60 – 70 age group) said that he is an ardent supporter of sport in Guyana and is impressed with the level of leadership under current President, the indefatigable Peter Green.
Sackicharra Singh was also responsible for rendering other assistance to the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation to which Powerlifting Guyana and its membership is very grateful, according to President Peter Green.
