A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were among four persons arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The duo was held along with Dhmian Southwell, 28, of Welfare Street, West Canefield, East Canje, and Jagdesh Jumgat, 22, also of Canefield, East Canje, Berbice.
The court was told that on Friday July 12, the police were on patrol in the area when they observed the youths sitting on a street corner and acting in a suspicious manner.
The patrol stopped and enquired of them what they were doing there. The group could give no plausible answer.
They were searched and two grams of leaves, seeds and stems of what was suspected to be the marijuana plant was found.
They were arrest and taken to the police station where they were subsequently charged.
The two youths were said to have no fixed placed of abode and were living by the two men
They were granted $5,000 bail each and ordered to return to court on July 31, at the Reliance Magistrate’s court.
The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents.
In the meanwhile, Southwell was committed on another charge of disorderly behaviour .
He was also granted $5,000 bail on that charge and ordered to return to court on July 31.
