US based Guyanese Triathlon athlete, Kyle Gomes, has continued his excellent showing in the USA when he placed 3rd in his category (M 24) which attracted 51 athletes on Sunday last in the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon.
The 23 year-old Gomes, who improved from his last year’s performance of 14th in his category, completed the three courses in Two Hours 18 Minutes 28 Seconds.
His overall place was 132 out of Three Thousand Four Hundred & Fifty Nine athletes (3459). His time in the Swim which was done in the Hudson River was 16 Minutes 14 Seconds; Bike One Hour 11 Minutes 42 Seconds; Run 46 Minutes 03 Seconds.
The Bike and Run took place in Central Park. Anthony Chan won the division in 2 Hours 09 Minutes 13 Seconds while, Scott Pepper placed second in 2 Hours 17 Minutes 22 Seconds.
Gomes said that he was very pleased with his improvement and performance this year given the fact that about 90 professionals participated.
