A man who was wanted by the police for a number of offences, including armed robbery, was yesterday caught with an underage school girl during a police raid of his home.
The 30 year-old was captured at his Fourth Avenue, Back Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara home.
According to reports reaching this publication, at about 14:00hrs (2:00 pm) a male rank from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) along with two other female officers arrived at the home and called out for the man.
A source told Kaieteur News that after the police continued to call out the man’s name they then decided to push open the door. “After they get in I hear a lil girl scream and they bring out the man.”
He added that the man was then brought out of the house and placed in a “red bus” while the young woman who was in her school clothes followed after with the two female officers.
The man, the teen and two other young women were then taken to the Golden Grove Police Station. It is however unconfirmed if the two other girls (not dressed in school attire) were also in the house.
At the Golden Grove Station, the girls were then taken in to give statements before they were then moved to the Diamond Station. After spending 15 minutes at the Golden Grove Station the officers transported the individuals to the East Ruimveldt police station where they remained up to press time.
Investigations are ongoing.
