Guyanese distance-running campaigners, Alika Morgan and defending CARICOM 10km Road Race champion, Cleveland Forde both finished runners-up at the 2013 race on Saturday in Trinidad and Tobago.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Tonya Nero won the female race in 37:22 with Morgan finishing in 41:46 ahead of Grenada’s Kenisha Pascal (43:06), who was third.
Trinidad’s Denzil Ramirez dethroned Forde in 32:09. Trinidadians Richard Jones and Curtis Cox was third and fourth while Guyana’s Kelvin Johnson was fifth.
Yesterday, Morgan’s Coach, Leslie Black disputed the athlete’s time, stating that she in fact ran 39:19 as opposed to the official 41:46 that was given. Black also said that there was interference from traffic on the course in Trinidad and Tobago.
