Scott’s Jewellery became the latest entity to offer sponsorship for the fourth edition of the Boyce & Jefford Track & Field Classic, announcing its partnership with the event for the first time at an ordinary presentation ceremony at its 193 Charlotte Street Store.
“This is a first time venture for us and we plan on continuing in the future with this activity. This contribution is toward the continued development of athletics and athletes,” one of the Managers of Scott’s Jewellery, Steve Persaud, stated.
Secretary of the Management Committee for the Boyce & Jefford Track & Field Classic IV, Shanomae Blackmore thanked the entity for their contribution, indicating that plans to host the 2013 competition are well advanced and properly administered.
What has become Guyana’s premier Track and Field Meet will be held at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, August 17, with heats and three finals and Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Ground, Linden on August 18 with all other finals.
Apart from dolling out lucrative cash prizes to clubs and athletes, the Boyce & Jefford Track and Field Classic is aimed at continuing to establish a prominent place for athletics in Guyana, and as was evident last year, leading athletes from the Caribbean are expected to compete against the best athletes in Guyana.
