The Guyana U-17 team departed yesterday for Trinidad and Tobago to contest the West Indies Cricket Board U-17 competition. Speaking just before their departure at the Wind Jammer Hotel in Kitty, Manager of the team Nazeer Mohamed said the team is a balanced one and if the guys play to their true potential Guyana can win the tournament.
He stated that the team has a number of talented players in Kemo Paul,
Shimron Hetymer and Sherfene Rutherford and he is looking forward to these players leading from the front. Mohamed said he is looking forward to a successful tour.
Guyana will take on the Windward Island in their first game at Bon Accord on July 1 before facing Barbados at Shaw Park on July 3. The Guyanese will then travel to Louidose where they will engage the Leeward Islands on July 4 and will clash with Jamaica at Shaw Park on July 6 before facing the host Trinidad and Tobago on July 7 at Louidore.
