Donald Mapp, 70, who was indicted on a murder charge earlier this year, will be facing a Supreme Court Judge in the next session of the Demerara Criminal Assizes. Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday ruled that there is sufficient evidence against Mopp for him to stand trial in the High Court.
Mapp, of Tucville, Georgetown was charged for the murder 33-year-old Winsel Robert Edwards of 320 Self-Help Square, East Ruimveldt, who was reportedly stabbed once in the vicinity of his heart.
Edwards was employed at a bicycle repair shop up until the time of his death. It was alleged that the elderly man walked up to Edwards, hugged him and stabbed him. Mapp was later taken into police custody.
