A 12-member Supreme Court jury will decide the fate of Romeo Andrews, next Tuesday.
Andrews of North Sophia is before Justice Bovell Drakes pending the outcome of an indictment of murder.
He is accused of killing a North Sophia man on August 16, 2009. He is represented by Attorney- at- Law, Hukumchand Parag. Attorneys- at- law, Dhanika Singh and Natasha Backer are State Prosecutors in the case.
Backer submitted closing arguments yesterday in response to Hukumchand‘s submission that the accused acted in self defence. Backer is refuting this claim. She says that the accused was angry and intended to end the ongoing feud between him and Thomas.
According to reports, Andrews murdered 38-year-old Andrew Thomas called “Pyee”
It is alleged that Thomas was sitting in a shop watching television when the accused came in and blocked his view.
He asked Andrews to remove, but the man refused, and an argument ensued between the two.
Andrews was subsequently stabbed in the neck by Thomas. After he was stabbed, Andrews was pursued into the yard by Thomas, a fight broke out, Thomas was stabbed in the process and collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
