The Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) will be staging a Volleyball Festival on Saturday 22nd June 2013 at the National Park to celebrate “Olympic Day” 2013.
The festival which has the blessings of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) will involve clubs from The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) and The Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) and will see six male teams from the DVA second division league along with two female teams and junior players participating in friendly competitions.
The day’s activity will be highlighted with a feature game between the top clubs in Berbice and Demerara. The mouthwatering encountering will see Port Mourant Training Centre (PTMC) of Berbice taking on Young Achievers of Demerara.
The total number of participants are expected to be 120 and the action starts at 12:00 hrs.
Among the clubs from Clubs from DVA that are expected to participate are GDF, Young Achievers, Lusignan, UG, Good Fortuin and Bank of Guyana. Two female teams from the Vanguard Volleyball Group are also expected to be in action.
With three courts being used the public is being invited to join in the fun.
The GVF also wishes to thank the GOA for hosting the “Olympic Day” event. (Samuel Whyte)
