The Providence Police Station and its environs should be in excellent condition over the next six month as two men have been sentenced to six months community service each for possession of cannabis.
Herbert Wright and Romel Black made separate appearances before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
Wright is accused of having in his possession ½ gram of cannabis. The court was told that on May 24, last, at Grove, East Bank Demerara, the police acting on information turned up at Wright’s home and carried out a search during which they found a white cigarette-like object believed to be cannabis. It was later determined that the substance was indeed cannabis.
Wright pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $3000 and sentenced to six months community service. He is expected to report to the Providence Station daily.
And Romel Black is accused of having 1 gram of cannabis in his possession on May 24. The court was told that police stopped Black at Nelson Street, Mocha, and carried out a search of his person.
