Ganeshram Narine and Krishundat Hansraj recorded commendable performances to guide Underdog to victory in the final of the Mac Dominoes competition which was contested on Sunday last at Amit Ramnarine Restaurant, Good Success Wakenaam.
Narine marked the maximum 18 games while Hansraj chalked 16 as Underdog tallied 79 games. Pre-tournament favourites Allstar had to settle for the runner-up spot with 75 games while Double Six ended third with 69.
Vijay Persaud and Khemraj Surajpaul were Allstar’s leading markers with 16 and 15 respectively while Amit Ramnarine top scored for Double Six with 16 games and Mohamed Zafrul supported with 14.
Leading up to the final, Underdog emerged champions of the first round with 85 games ahead of Royal Six 70 and Sea Wall Boys 64. Narine led the winners with 17 while Hansraj and James Ramnarine made 16 and 13 respectively.
Vickram Ramnarine marked 15 and Heera Sukram 14 for Royal Six; Andrew Osborne posted 16 and Mohamed Sheriffudeen 15 for Sea Wall Boys. Taking a stroll down lovers lane were Anil Ramrattan and Somel Heeraman of Sea Wall Boys.
Allstar took the honours in the second round with 84 games, Mohamed Kalam chalking up the maximum 18 games, Vijay Persaud 16 and Nazeer Mohamed 14. Double Six placed second with 78 games and Royal Six third on 70.
Mohamed Zafrul and Amit Ramnarine marked 16 games each for Double Six while Vickram Ramnarine and Gurnauth Khemraj made 14 apiece for Royal Six.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, sponsor of the competition, Safraz Sheriffudeen thanked Amit Ramnarine for assisting in the area of organising while congratulating Underdog for winning, promising to continue with sponsorship.
Captain of the victorious team James Ramnarine expressed gratitude Mr. Sheriffudeen while pointing out that team work was the main ingredient that brought his team success. Ramnarine also applauded the second and third placed teams for their efforts and hard work.
