Rubis Guyana showed their support for the physically challenged by presenting the Deaf Association of Guyana (DAG) with a quantity of table tennis gears for the development of Deaf sports in Guyana.
Rubis Guyana presented DAG with the table tennis gears on Friday last at David Rose School, Thomas Lands.
DAG Vice President Quincy Richards commented: “Rubis Guyana is setting an excellent example for private sector to follow, and coming on board is definitely a step in the right direction. Developing the sports programme in special needs schools is one of the challenges our organization faces, and it is a need DAG continues to address. We are extraordinarily grateful for the support. Rubis Guyana Inc. is indeed helping us make a difference.”
The Deaf Association of Guyana is a non-governmental organization that works with and for deaf youths: in education, the performing arts and sport.
DAG will focus this year on developing a sports programme at the four special needs schools and an All Deaf Sports Day is planned for July. This activity will bring together deaf youths from Regions 4, 3, 6 and 10.
DAG is a small but very active organization that continually works with Deaf communities in Guyana in various projects.
