A search continues for the body of 24-year-old Fred Creme which disappeared in the Essequibo River following a boat mishap on Saturday.
Creme was one of 10 men travelling in a wooden ballahoo when it capsized off Riverstown foreshore in rough waters.
According to reports, another boat that was in the vicinity went to their assistance, however while nine of the passengers were rescued Crème’s body was not found.
His mother, 57-year-old Joan Daniels, said she last spoke with her him on Mother’s Day. Daniels said that her son promised her he would be home for December.
The grieving woman, who hails from Kwebana, said her son relocated to the Essequibo Coast several years ago and was working on a farm at Humbug, a small island in the Essequibo River.
Meanwhile, Joan Prince, the missing man’s wife said she last saw Creme on Saturday morning.
She related that later that day, two men, Shabbier and another called “Popo” both from Good-Hope, Essequibo Coast visited her residence at Adventure and told her that Creme was missing and a search was in progress.
