First lady Deolatchmee Ramotar hosted an interactive afternoon with several mothers at the Enterprise Community Centre, East Coast Demerara on Sunday, to pay tribute to them on Mother’s Day.
“We are here to wish the mothers a happy Mother’s Day, to interact with them and to find out if there is anything that we can do for them…to let them know that if there’s any issue that they have, they can come to us. If it’s something we can’t handle we will direct them to the relevant sources,” Mrs. Ramotar told reporters yesterday.
In her address to the gathering, Mrs. Ramotar said that the members of the First Lady Foundation decided on spending time with mothers of the Enterprise Community.
During their time of interaction, the mothers were given refreshments and tokens of appreciation for their loving and valuable contribution to Guyana’s future generations.
“Today we celebrate the value of mothers and the lessons they have taught us …I am here to personally remind you of the unyielding power of a mother’s love which is demonstrated by an equally unceasing devotion to protect and care from her child.
“It is a great gift with which women alone are blessed. It is a gift that should be cherished and acknowledged with tangible gifts.”
