The Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (GCU&SA) will commence its Annual Umpire’s Training Classes on Tuesday May 14 from 17:00hrs at the Demerara Cricket Club.
Thereafter classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00 – 19:00hrs each week and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday July 28 with the Umpires Preliminary Examination.
A release from the (GSU&CA) stated that these classes are not only for Umpires and aspiring Umpires that are pursuing a career but cricket administrators, captains, coaches, cricketers, sports journalists, and cricket enthusiasts as well.
A special appeal is being made for young persons and females to attend these classes and aspire to become Umpires since there is a growing demand Regionally and Internationally for these categories of cricket Umpires.
The classes will be conducted by Nigel Dugid (WICB Senior & ICC International Umpires Panel), Edward Nicholls (Ex Test Umpire), Colin Alfred (First Class Umpire; Member – WICB Emerging Umpires, Shannon Crawford (WICB Emerging Umpires Panel and Matthew Kissoon.
