This year’s Universal DVD First Division Twenty20 cricket competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board is set to bowl off tomorrow with five matches and will herald the start of the 2013 Berbice first division season.
With an Upper Corentyne representative team returning after a number of years of dormancy and D’Edward Cricket Club of West Berbice elevated to first division status after performing outstandingly to reach the final of the Neal & Massy Intermediate competition, this year’s competition is anticipated to be keen with a total of 14 teams participating.
These teams have been placed in two groups: Group A comprise of Port Mourant Karibee Rice, Police, D’Edward, Cotton Tree Die Hard, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets, Blairmont Community Centre and Albion Community Centre while Group B consists of West Berbice, Upper Corentyne, Young Warriors Universal DVD, Skeldon Community Centre, Bush Lot United Rising Star, Edinburgh and Bermine.
As was done in the inaugural competition in 2011, a feature will be the playing off of morning and afternoon matches on the same day at selected venues beginning from the third round with matches starting at 09:00hrs and 13:30hrs, respectively.

Group A
Port Mourant Karibee Rice vs Police at Port Mourant
D’Edward vs Cotton Tree Die Hard at D’Edward
Group B
Bush Lot United Rising Star vs Young Warriors Universal DVD at Bush Lot
Edinburgh vs Bermine at Edinburgh
Upper Corentyne vs Skeldon Community Centre at Crabwood Creek
All of the above matches are scheduled to start at 13:30 hours.
