Unique Entertainment / Banks Premium Beer Futsal Classic
It was originally slated to conclude on Sunday, but persistent showers forced the Organisers to cancel the night’s proceedings and set a new date for the semi-finals of the Unique Entertainment / Banks Premium Beer Futsal Classic to be played.
The semi-finals will now be played tomorrow evening, at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hardcourt with the final set for March 2, at the same venue.
The tournament’s major sponsor Banks DIH who shoveled out $500,000 for the first prize under their Premium Beer brand must be happy with regards to the way the competition was embraced by the players and the vast crowd support on a nightly basis.
Meanwhile, Tom Beverage Depot located on Republic Avenue in Linden, yesterday added its support for the tournament by handing over an undisclosed sum of cash to Unique Entertainment’s Anthony Whyte, while stating their happiness in doing so.
It must be the level of fight and resilience shown by the competitors that led to the well established beverage repository to hop on the last train, since on Saturday last, the tournament was shaken up when one of the top teams were sent home.
While New Era Russians and Hard Knocks are still around – both still hoping to give the fans that dream final – Hard Knocks ‘2’ was not as successful to keep in the treasure hunt after they were defeated by Top Class; one the sleepers in the tournament.
Thursday’s action will see New Era Russians face Silver Bullets, while Hard Knocks will seek revenge against Top Class.
How that story will unfold as teams battle for the prizes on offer is anybody’s guess at this time, especially given the twist of events that have occurred in the tournament to date.
