Eagles United soared to an upset 2-0 win over one of the tournament favourites, Uitvlugt Warriors when play in the Trophy Stall sponsored West Demerara Football Association Under-17 League continued on Saturday at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground.
Uitvlugt, coming off of a huge 8-1 whipping of Young Achievers the previous Saturday, found it very difficult to find goal scoring range as their neighbours, Eagles of Stewartville stole the show on the day and in the process recorded their second win in as many matches following their 1-0 triumph against Bagotsville / Nismes on the opening day.
Eagles never allowed Uitvlugt to settle into a rhythm, Stephan Griffith nailing the first goal for Eagles in the 10th minute.
Uitvlugt did put up a high level of resistance as the confident Eagles line-up kept going at their opponents.
With eight minutes remaining on the clock, the Stewartville based teenagers sealed the deal, Mervin Frank touching in a fine effort sealing full points which has taken Eagles to the top of the table on 6 points to maintain their unblemished record, two wins from as many matches.
Action will continue on Saturday at the same venue.
