The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) has announced that it has powered 25 new areas with E-magine, its high speed internet service.
The new areas include Linden in the south and from Cane Grove to Crabwood Creek in the east.
E-magine is part of the phone company’s rollout of its improved internet service following the landing and installation of US$60M fibre optic cable…a joint collaboration with Suriname’s Telesur. There had been some delays but the company says it is now steaming ahead with expansion plans.
According to GT&T, in addition to Linden Central and Amelia’s Ward in Region 10, Regions Five and Six were also hooked up.
On the East Coast Demerara, the areas hooked up include Cane Grove (Strathaven, Bagatelle, Uplands, Diamond, Virginia and Cane Grove); Planters Hall (Brookhall, Fairfield, Quakers Hall, De Kinderen, Zeeland, Cottage and Belmont); Mahaicony (Airy Hall, Bushy Park,, Sophias Hope, Farm, Wash Clothes, New Providence, Zeskendren, Perth, Felicity, Enterprise, Mahaicony, Little Abary, Mortice, Dundee, Grove, Huntley and Fellowship) and
Catherine (Novar, Good Faith, Recess, Calcutta, Abary, Sans Souci, Letter T, Adventure, Retrieve) in the upper East Cost Demerara area.
In the West Berbice area, hooked up are Ithaca, Blairmont, Tempe (Belle Vue, Litchfield, Cottage, Jacoba, Moon Park, Phoenix, Kingelly, Brahan, Ross, Yeovil, Golden Grove, Chester, Britannia, Tempe, Union, Trafalgar, Onverwagt, and Lovely Lass); Bush Lot (Armadale, Bel Air, Bush Lot, Catherinas Lust, Hopetown, No.2, Onderneeming and Fort Wellington) and
Bath (Waterloo, Woodley Park, Woodlands, Friends, Retreat, Expectation, Experiment, Naarstigheid and Bath).
In the East Berbice area, E-magine service is now available in Sheet Anchor (Kintyre, Palmyra, Sea Well, Forte Ordinance, No. 2 Village, Sheet Anchor); Cumberland(Canefield, Nuclear Yard, Plantation RoseHall-East Canje, Cumberland); Adelphi (Reliance, Good Banana Land, Betsy Ground, Gangaram, Adelphi); Kilcoy,(Albion, Chesney, Courtland, Fyrish, Gibraltar, Kilcoy, No.1 Road); Nigg (Belvedere, Nigg); Hampshire (Williamsburg, Hampshire); Port Mourant (Ankerville, Bound Yard, Freeyard, Miss Phoebe, Port Mourant Portuguese Quarters); Adventure, (Bushlot, Alness, Salton, Hogstyle, Limlair, Friendship, Nurney, Kildonan, Adventure); No.34 (Maida, Kilmarnock, No. 34 to No. 37); Brighton (No. 38 to No 47 Villages);
No. 52 (No. 48 to No. 52 villages); and Benab (which includes No. 53 to No. 67 Villages).
Further up the Corentyne Coast, villages to benefit from GT&T’s e-magine DSL service include:
Massiah which covers areas from No. 68 to No. 72 villages; No. 76 which covers Clonbrook, Stockholm, Spring Gardens, Hamlet, No. 73-No.78 Villages, Scottsburg, Dukestown and Princetown and Crabwood Creek which includes the commercial and residential areas of Crabwood Creek.
For this month, GT&T said it will be offering new customers in these areas half-price ($7,500) on the standard DSL modems, while existing customers will be upgraded free to the standard DSL service for a one-month period.
“After the one-month period customers have the option of maintaining the Standard Service or taking the Lite Service.”
To facilitate customers in the Berbice area, GT&T said it will be having mobile fairs as follows:
February 2 – Rosignol Market; February 3 – Cellphone Wiz, Bushlot; February 9 – Imran & Sons, Rose Hall; February 10 -Subnauth Hardware Store, No 64 Village, Benab; February 16 – R. Samaroo Sensation, Skeldon and February 17 – Arman Mohamed, Crabwood Creek
The fairs will be from 09:00 to 14:00hrs. Customers in Linden and Amelia’s Ward can sign up for the service at the GT&T’s Linden Business Office.
Also on the cards for first quarter implementation are additional cell sites and other data service initiatives to various areas in the country, GT&T disclosed.
