A nightspot patron walked out of Palm Court Saturday night and during an argument with another patron he pulled from his waist a Glock 19 nine millimeter pistol and discharged a round.
This might not have meant much had the patron been a licenced firearm holder. He was not. The police who raced to the scene having gotten the report of a shooting arrested him with the pistol. He could not produce a licence and was taken to the Brickdam Police Station.
He must have been an important person because within minutes people were calling the station seeking his release. Some of the callers were said to be senior police officers.
Up to last night the patron remained in custody and is likely to head to court today.
