A taxi driver from North Ruimveldt Georgetown yesterday faced charges in relation to trafficking in narcotics.
The man, Fenton Jarvis, 32, of 1229 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison after he denied having 38 grams of cocaine and 27 grams of marijuana in his possession on December 4 for the purpose of trafficking.
Jarvis stood before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine Beharry as the charges were read to him. Police prosecutor Seon Blackman furnished the court with the necessary details of the allegation.
According to the prosecutor, the quantity of drugs was found on the defendant’s person after ranks from the anti narcotics unit acting on information, conducted a raid on a yard in Leopold Street, Charlestown.
Blackman asked that the magistrate refuse bail since no special reason was given to the court for such to be granted.
Jarvis was denied bail and ordered to return to court in January.
