Marketing and Distribution (M&D) are the 2012 Neal and Massy Inter-Company
10-over Tapeball Cricket champions following their victory over Essequibo Branch Sunday at the Cornelia Ida ground, West Coast Demerara.
M&D led by an sterling all-round performance by Lorenzo Duesbury who struck a match-winning 45 runs which included four sixes and two fours and grabbed two wickets as his team compiled 91 for 5 in their allotted overs and then restricted Essequibo to 58 for nine wickets to win by 33 runs.
Ariel Khan was the pick of the M&D bowlers with a hat-trick (3 for 7), while Duesbury and Bryden Maniford captured two wickets each.
Duesbury was named Man of the Match.
M&D had beaten defending champions AINLIM by eight runs in their semi-final encounter.
Batting first, M&D made 69 for 5 with Shridatt Persaud top scoring with 28. Ashraf Ali took 2-11 for AINLIM, who replied with 61 for 6 off their allotted 10 overs with AINLIM Chief Executive Officer Lakenarine Shivraj top scoring with 15.
Essequibo defeated NMSS by five wickets in the other semi-finals.
Batting first, NMSS compiled 67-9 off their 10 overs with Mark Smith scoring 13, while R. Lall took 2 for 4 for Essequibo.
Essequibo in reply made 71 for 5 with K. Persaud scoring 19 runs.
Earlier, NMSS disposed of Bermudez by 10 wickets in their quarter-final match. Bermudez were restricted to 32 for 6 and NMSS hit off the required runs without loss. Mark Smith who had taken 2 wickets for 2 runs struck an unbeaten 26 for NMSS.
The presentation of prizes will take place next Friday at Neal and Massy Staff facilities at Ruimveldt.
