The Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground, more renowned for football activities will be the venue for an athletic event when the Holy Family Bible Club Sports Committee stages an Inter Schools Athletic Relay Fair starting at 11:00hrs.
The event was initially scheduled to get underway on October 27 but the organisers were advised that most of the participants were engaged in training for the National Schools Athletic Championships which concluded yesterday, paving the way for today’s activities.
Schools along the East Coast corridor would join those from East Bank Demerara, West Coast Demerara and Georgetown in fierce rivalry.
Additionally, two teams out of Suriname will compete in the 4×80, 4x 100, 4×200 and 4×400 relay events. These races will feature young athletes between the ages of 10-18 all competing for trophies, medals and cash prizes donated by the corporate community.
Among those businesses sponsoring the events are Colour’s Boutique, Star Party Rental, G&R Construction Company, Yarrow Dam, Giftland Office Max, Pure Diamond Establishment, Gold target Export, Beck’s Lumber Yard, Interior Flight Services, PKF Barcellos Narine & Company, Delta Airlines, Giddings Payday and Pawn Shop, Prem Electrical, Hamson’s General Store, JaParts of Croal street and Robert’s Jewelry. Activities are coordinated by Lorrie Ann Tracy, Dereck Young and Sheldon Gomes.
