– wins for Lima, Charity ‘B’ and Gunners
Lima, Charity ‘B’ and Gunners recorded victories when play in the R & D Engineering Service T20 cricket competition continued Sunday last in North Essequibo with three matches.
At Charity – Lima got the better of Charity ‘A’ by 6 wickets. Charity batting first posted 141-7 off their allotted overs; Vishnu Murray and Fenton Jacobus top scoring with 34 each while Romel Stanislaus chipped in with 30.
Basdeo Khemraj and Brian Bissessar picked up 2 wickets apiece for Lima who responded with 142-4 in 13.3 overs. Fizal Karim led the scoring with 35, I. Ali and Rajiv Manichand supported with 31 and 27 respectively. Alex Lawrie claimed 2-24 in a losing effort.
At Richmond – Charity ‘B’ overcame Richmond Titans by 6 wickets. Omesh Persaud 19 and Tyron Bollers 11 were the only batsmen that reached double figures as Richmond managed 72 before they were bowled out in 19.3 overs, batting first.
Keisho Rooplall was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with 3-12; Ronzel Garraway snared 3-17 and Daniel Ragubar 2-14. Charity ‘B’ then responded with 74-4 in 12.5 overs.
Edward Melville was their chief run scorer with 20, Jimez Cornelius and Wayne Fernandes assisted with 14 and 11 respectively; Keron Sewnarine took 2-12.
At Lima – Gunners defeated Devonshire Castle by 11 runs. Brian Persaud 3-14, Avinash Persaud 3-16, and Manoj Lall 2-23, bowled with variation to restrict Gunners to 113-9 in 20 overs. Alex Collins led with 33 and got support from Herry Green 13.
In response, Devonshire Castle could only manage 102-6 in their allocation of overs. Dharamdeo Lall 20 and Dharshan Persaud 12 were the only batsmen that offered any resistance; Hemant Beharry and Mark Tyrell captured 2 wickets each for the winners.
