Pacesetters, Colours Panthers meet for 3rd div. crown
Dyna Ravens and Colts will square off in the final of this year’s Gatorade / Pepsi Sonics ‘Refresh Your Game’ First Division Basketball Competition which will be played in conjunction with the final of the Third Division Tournament on Sunday, October 14, at Burnham Court.
The Third Division final will be contested between Pacesetters and Colours Panthers and jump-ball is 19:00 hrs after which the feature game will be played.
In Third Division semi-final action- Pacesetters defeated United Buxton 51-43 through solid contributions from Calvin Harding, who dumped in a game high 17 points and Ruel Leitch and Anore Fraser with 11 points apiece.
For United Buxton, Athiola Williams poured in 16 points, while Denzil Phillips 14 and Sydel Thomas 13 added support. Colours Panthers then squeezed past Colts 42-40.
Keiron Boyce with 15 points led the way for the winners, while Kevin Dover 8 and Tyson Barnwell 6 added valuable points. For Colts- Lennox Thornhill top-scored with 12, while Evans Johnson and Ryan Duncan added 9 and 8 points respectively.
In the First Division Competition, Colts led by an outstanding display from Shelroy Thomas, who netted a game high 22 points easily disposed of Pacesetters 75-54. He received solid support from Gavin Beeram 17 and Dave Causeway 16.
Naylon Loncke with 19 points was the top marksman for Pacesetters, while Rayon Cummings contributed 8.
Dyna Ravens crushed Colours Panthers 83-28 in the other semi-final with Akeem Kanhai 14, Ryan Stepheney 13 and Ryan Gullen 9 leading the way, while George Easton 7 and Jason Cummings 6 were the only players to show some resistance for Colours Panthers.
There will be an Exhibition match between Pepsi Sonics Junior Basketball Team at 17:00hrs.
