Johanna Cecelia defeated Essequibo Islands Secondary School by 9 wickets to secure their place in the final of the Imam Bacchus and Sons schools twenty\20 tournament last Saturday.
Playing at the Affiance ground, Essequibo Islands Secondary were restricted to 69 all out in 18 overs after they took first strike. Sanjay Jairam scored 14, while extras contributed a healthy 27. Akiene Adams was the chief destroyer with 7-6 off 3 overs.
Johanna Cecelia then made light work of the target, winning the game in 8 overs, ending on 71-1. Raj Parbattie top scored with 32 (6×4) and S. Peters chipped in with 17(2×4, 1×6). Johanna Cecelia have now qualified for the final and are awaiting the winner of the second semifinal which will be played on Saturday at the same venue between Anna Regina Multilateral and Aurora Secondary. The final is set for the following Saturday.
