Dear Editor,
No, not that kind of cover-up.
I am referring to the one that requires a white sheet or cloth or some other barrier to the prying eyes of gawkers.
I would like to see the police and other first responders enable themselves with some means of shielding the victims of a tragedy from the curious, many of whom are vying to be the first with a post on facebook or some other form of social media.
Crime scene tape may keep the crowds afar but it does nothing to the lenses of cameras and smart phones.
As a newspaper you surely have a right to print and publish what you choose and the problem certainly won’t disappear overnight.
The curious will most likely be the first on the scene but when the authorities arrive I think the ‘show” should be over.
