Dear Editor,
On Tuesday 24th of July 2012 by the way of a motion moved by Ms. Collins, I along with two other members were suspended from holding any office in the Guyana Teachers’ Union for two years (2012-2014) by the General Council.
We were accused of bringing the Union into dispute because we secured an injunction from the High Court which prevented the newly elected Central Executive officers of the Union from performing their duties for a short while. As members of the Union would remember, we went to the High Court over the recently held GTU elections and the matter is still to be dealt with by the courts.
To date, I have not received my letter of suspension or a copy of the motion. I cannot understand how a motion for our suspension could have been drafted in a matter of minutes and after more than two weeks I am yet to receive my letter of suspension.
