Yesterday morning, several Executives of the beverage company joined Executive members of the EDFA at the Ansa Mcal Betterverwagting office to unveil the sponsorship package while briefing media representatives of the details pertaining to the sponsorship deal.
Ansa Mcal was represented at the forum by Stag Beer Brand Manager, John Maikoo and Public Relations Officer, Darshanie Yussuf while the First Vice President of the EDFA, Eton Moses, represented his organisation. President (ag) of the Guyana Football Federation, Franklin Wilson was also in attendance.
Mr. Moses extended gratitude to the sponsors and intimated that their kind gesture will not only facilitate the effective running of the tournament but it will support the projections of the officials of the EDFA in molding the skills of young ball weavers along the East Coast corridor. The EDFA official explained that his Executives have incorporated an Under-13 tournament into the senior competition where the young players will share the experience of practicing their trade before large crowds.
He noted that the initiative is of historical importance and will serve to prepare the youngsters for such eventualities as they grow in the sport.
Meanwhile, the gesture coincides with the Beverage Company’s 20th anniversary celebrations and Ms. Yussuf said that apart from acquiescing to the sponsorship deal, Ansa Mcal has broadened their input and has adopted the Betterverwagting Community Centre Ground. She said that the initiative has already been approved and works would soon commence.
The Beverage magnate would be installing bleachers, installing washrooms and conducting general rehabilitation works to the facility. “We regard this gesture as an integral aspect of our corporate input,” said Ms. Yussuf. She remained adamant that her organisation’s role extends further than just residing within the community. “We are also integrally involved in the activities of the community,” she concluded.
Mr. Wilson was high in praise of the Beverage Company and extended profound gratitude for their input. He noted that Ansa Mcal has always responded positively to requests for assistance and he expressed confidence in the acquisition of similar packages towards football’s development. He further complimented the teamwork exhibited by officials of the EDFA.
Mr. Wilson joined Ms Yussuf in appealing to the members of the participating clubs to exhibit the high level of discipline necessary for the efficient running of the tournament.
