Uitvlugt humble Wales, Young Achievers defeat Den Amstel as top teams advance
Four more teams turned in special performances and advanced to the next round when action in the West Demerara Sub-Association/Stag Beer 2012 Senior Football League continued at the Den Amstel Community Center Ground over the past weekend.
Young Achievers played a tactical game and eked out a close 3-2 win over Den Amstel on Saturday, while Uitvlugt humbled Wales 6-1 in the main supporting encounter. Marvin Joseph (3rd), Dellon Millington (19th) and Delroy Adams (73rd) netted for Young Achievers, while Jeffrey Perreira (50th) and Andre Hector (63rd) closed the gap for Den Amstel.
Uitvlugt’s scorers included Delon Lanferman (2nd), Delroy Johnson (18th), Kester Albert (21st), Jamal Petty (26th) and Cornel Johnson (50th). Quesi Allen saved some face for Wales with a 56th minute effort.
In Sunday’s matches, Stewartville overwhelmed Beavers 3-1 while Eagles swamped Nimes/Bagotsville 3-0. Orette Stephenson (17th), Owen McGarrell (57th) and Mervyn Henry (54th) were the scorers for Stewartville, while Anthony Nicholson netted a brace in the 26th and 53rd minutes for Eagles with support from Horris Caines in the 54th minute.
The action continues on Saturday and Sunday next with two other action packed encounters. Those matches get underway at 4pm and 6pm respectively. Admission is $300.
