Guyana-born EU accountant dies while returning home from overseas assignment
What seemed like another business trip for a South Ruimveldt Gardens accountant has turned into an unforgettable experience for his family.
European Union Project Accountant, Ian Jordan, 53, was scheduled to be in Guyana with his wife and two children.
However he died in St Lucia yesterday morning, while on a flight back home from Brussels.

During the flight, he complained of “feeling unwell”, forcing pilots to make an emergency stop in St Lucia.
Jordan subsequently died while receiving treatment at Saint Jude Hospital on the island.
His wife Dawn told Kaieteur News that she received the news of her husband’s passing early yesterday morning.
“My brother-in-law called me and said he had some sad news….so I asked what, and he said, ‘Ian passed away’,” the wife said.
The wife was unable to say how he died.
According to the woman, her husband didn’t have any known medical problems.
She told Kaieteur News that he started working at the European Union sometime in 2004, after managing one of the local banks.
Jordan began his banking career at the now defunct Guyana National Cooperative Bank, where he rose to a managerial position.
Kaieteur News was told that a post mortem was expected to be done either today or on Wednesday in St Lucia.
The European Union is expected to foot the bill to bring the body home sometime this week.
