Police came up empty-handed after they swooped down on a South Ruimveldt Park house in what appeared to be a random raid around midday yesterday.
The ranks were forced to scale a high fence to gain access to the house which was unoccupied at the time of the search.
Neighbours were taken by surprise by the sight of dozens of heavily-armed ranks who had surrounded the property, which according to reports, belongs to a France-based Guyanese man.
It is not clear why the police raided the house, but neighbours said that the property owner had left the country for France about a week ago.
While the police entered the yard, they were not able to gain entry into the heavily fortified property which is equipped with surveillance cameras.
Several residents in the area opined that the actions of the police appeared to be quite unprofessional.
