A superb innings of 109 not out by former National under-15 vice-captain Sharaz Ramcharran, 92 from Veerapen Permaul and a fine bowling effort by National Under-19 cricketer Kandasammy Surujnarine (5-20) combined to lead Albion Community Centre Cricket Club to their first victory in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) 2012 Elizabeth Styles under-19 tournament.
Batting first after being invited to do so by Fyrish, Albion CCC lost National under 19 opener Kandasammy Surujnarine (6) in four overs with the score on 49 when Sharaz Ramcharran (109*) joined aggressive Veerapen Permaul (brother of Veerasammy Permaul) and they took the score to 134 in the 16th over before Permaul was caught on the mid-wicket boundary attempting his seventh six for a well played 92. Ramcharran was well supported by David Latchya who made 32 (4 x4 and 6 x1) and Narendra Permaul 35* (4 x3 and 6 x 2) as Albion reach 315 for 6 in the 35 overs
Fyrish needing to score 316, never looked comfortable against the pace of Kandasammy Surujnarine who finished with 5 -20 including a hat-trick from his allotted seven overs as their innings closed in 16.4 overs for a meager 43 with no batsman getting in double figure,
Kandasammy was also well supported with two wickets Latchman Bishram and one apiece for both Motie and Veerapen Permaul.
The match was reduced to 35 overs a side due to early morning showers.
The competition continues this weekend with Albion taking on Rose Hall Town B at Area H on Saturday and Guysuco Training Centre on Sunday at Albion.
