It’s double six time once again when the South Turkeyen Sports Committee in collaboration with the Mahaicony Football Club and Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell presents a day of sports for villages along the East Coast corridor at the Mahaicony Community Centre Ground ECD, Sunday April 1 next.
Activities are planned in memory of the late Gordon Bynoe and Brian Gibbons, two former sports stalwarts of the East Coast. There will be a 7-a-side football competition, a 6 overs softball cricket competition, a basketball tournament, a domino competition and a volleyball tournament. The highlight of the day’s activities will be the feature match between a team from the city and a combined team comprising East Coast villages.
The winning teams and runners-up will receive trophies and medals donated by several corporate entities, while several other individuals comprised a part of the organizing committee including the Bynoe family, the Gibbons family and the Moore family.
