A recent publication in the Kaieteur News stated that a man, Errol Dainty, who sexually molested a 12 year-old was a pastor attached to the Nazarene Church and served at Henrietta.
Since that publication senior officials of the church have come forward to deny that the accused child molester is not a pastor. Rev. Harry Moorgan, Acting Head of the Nazarene Church in Guyana said that Dainty once served as a pastor at the Henrietta church but that was some four or five years ago. Situations caused them to ask him to step down, Rev. Moorgan said.
For some time now, the pastor at the Henrietta church has been Pastor Ravie Singh. This was supported by Rev. Rajcoomar Autar, District Secretary of the Nazarene Church in Guyana. Dainty is in no way connected to the church, they insisted.
They all said that the publication and the link to the church have caused grave embarrassment.
Dainty is currently on remand in prison, having been sent there by Magistrate Leron Daly.
Kaieteur News apologises to the Nazarene Church and its leaders and members for any embarrassment caused. It also regrets identifying Dainty as a pastor in the church when in fact he was not.
