Officials and lawyers for the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and Government returned
to the High Court yesterday, before Chief Justice, Ian Chang.
The appearance was sparked by an injunction filed by Attorney General (AG) and Ministry of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall seeking to prevent the 13 officials of the GCB from holding themselves to be executive members of the GCB. Lawyer for the GCB, Roysdale Forde, who is being assisted by Steven Lewis and Keshia Chase stated that the court will reconvene on March 19 for arguments and other challenges to the injunction.
Forde also stated that the GCB filed a motion on Thursday seeking the discharge of the injunction.
The matter stemmed from two court orders contained in an Interim Injunction, which also allows for the search of premises of four GCB officers (Chetram Singh, Lionel Jaikarran, Ramsay Ali and Anand Sanasie) and the removal of any property of the GCB. Ali has since resigned as GCB President. His resignation followed the search of his home earlier this week.
