claiming that he was mistakenly shot by a Campbellville businessman.
Kevin Inniss, 18, of Lot 123, ‘B’ Field, Sophia, was shot twice- in his buttocks and also to his left knee.
At the Georgetown Hospital yesterday, he said that he was heading home when he noticed four men in a pickup chasing two men who were on one bicycle.
He said that one of the men from the pickup was firing shots, so in fear, he rode into a corner but ended up being shot.
“The people from the pickup didn’t know dem shoot me so they continue chasing the boys and one of my friends see me and he went and called my mother and they bring me here to the hospital.”
When the injured Inniss was rushed to the hospital, his body was covered in mud.
Reports are that two school students went to a businessman’s home in Campbellville and told him that two bandits- one armed with a gun and the other with a knife- had robbed them on David Street, Kitty.
The businessman, who is a licensed firearm holder, said that he picked up his gun, raced to his pickup and started chasing the men.
He said that he managed to corner the two armed bandit on Eastern Highway, in front of Congress Place but they dashed through Dennis Street, Sophia, where they abandoned their cycle near the famous “40-foot” canal.
By then, the businessman had confronted the bandits. He claimed that one of the bandits raised his hands, holding a .38 snub nose revolver. The businessman fired two shots as a result.
Inniss collapsed while the other bandit managed to escape into the bushes. He was later nabbed by police.
