An apology to US Peace Corps Guyana

Contrary to reports that one of the parties in a sexual assault matter engaging the attention of the courts is a member of the Peace Corps, the woman is a member of an organization called World Teach.
The report on the assault was carried under the caption ‘Maths Teacher Suspended on Sex Assault Charge’ in the February 25, 2012 edition of Kaieteur News.
A Mathematics teacher, said to be the accused in the sexual molestation allegation, has been suspended pending the outcome of the charge.
Country Director of the US Peace Corps, Brannon T. Brewer was not amused at the suggestion that the woman at the centre of the allegation is a member of US Peace Corps Guyana.
“The person involved was not affiliated with Peace Corps, which is likewise confirmed by the official police report. The volunteers and staff of Peace Corps strive for the highest standard of professionalism, and an error of this magnitude may cause devastating results if not corrected,” he said.
