Berbician Dhieranidranauth Somwaru was re-elected unopposed as President of the Guyana Cricket Umpires Council when the body held its Biannual General Meeting and elections on Sunday at the Guyana National Newspapers Limited at Lamaha Avenue in Georgetown.
Shannon Crawford was elected as the Vice President while Nigel Duguid is the Secretary. The Treasurer is Eddie Nicholls and Essequibian Zabeer Zakir will serve as the Assistant Secretary Treasurer.
Heuvel Cunha was elected as the Public Relations Officer and the Committee members are Zaheer Moakan, Clement Brusche, Dawchan Nagassar and Lennie Mohamed.
Secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board Anand Sanasie, who performed the duties of the returning officer, congratulated the members who were nominated to serve as office bearers and said the election was conducted in the friendliest of atmosphere and wished all umpires good luck in the future.
Somwaru in his brief remarks thanked Sanasie and Robin Singh who assisted him in conducting the elections. He said that he will work to the best of his ability so that everyone is treated fairly. (Zaheer Mohamed)
