The intense rivalry associated with scrabble competitions will resume when the country’s elite word formers convene tomorrow morning at the Malteenos Sports Club for the Danny’s Auto Sales Open under the auspices of the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP).
Over the past few weeks the players affiliated to GASP have been engaged in tense duels that witnessed several nail biting finishes for top honours. James Krakowsky has been the man to beat as he has been excelling in all of the tournaments so far.
This time around he will have to contend with such players as Moen Gafoor, who has been notably absent from previous tournaments, Ewart Adams, Maurice Munru, who has improved tremendously along with Prudence Edwards.
Activities get underway with the registration of players at 09:45hrs whereas, the first tile would be moved at 10:00hrs sharp. The best three players each receive trophies and other lucrative prizes while the best player outside of the top 10 rankings receives a special prize. The registration fee remains at $500.00.
