The Special Events Committee (SEC) of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) in association with its Coaching Department on Sunday last hosted a successful coaching clinic for junior wicketkeepers.
The one-day event was held at the Area ‘H’ Ground and attracted a total of seventeen wicketkeepers from clubs across the Ancient County.
Coaches Julian Moore, Winston Smith and Michael Hyles Franco assisted the young wicketkeepers with the different aspects of Wicketkeeping including: E – equipment, C – crouch (well balanced), P – position, G – glove work, F – footwork and C – concentration and fitness.
The coaches emphasized to the youths the importance of physical fitness and discipline for wicketkeepers as they are always involved in the game while on the field.
The opportunity was also taken to identify potential candidates for the Ancient County at the Under-15, 17 and 19 levels.
Those players identified would be included in the upcoming Junior Elite Training Programme which would be launched shortly.
SEC Chairman Hilbert Foster disclosed that the BCB on Saturday next would be hosting a one-day Academy at the Bush Lot Cricket Ground, West Coast Berbice while fast bowling clinic would be held on Sunday at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
