Windward Islands, replying to Guyana’s 138 all out, were 186 for eight at the close on the second day of their rain-hit second round Regional Four-Day Championship match in Dominica to grab first innings honours.
For Guyana Veerasammy Permaul 36, Derwin Christian 34, Rajendra Chrandrika 24 led the batting after they struggled. Nelon Pascal 5-50 and Darren Sammy 4-51 were the main wicket takers for the Windwards.
In the Windwards reply, Andre Fletcher 36, Garey Mathurin 27, Nelon Pascal 24 not out and Keddy Lesporis 23 pushed them past the Guyanese. Veerasammy Permaul 5-64 stood out in the bowling department for Guyana with Bishoo and Beaton with one apiece.
Scores: Guyana 138; Windwards 186-8.
Meanwhile, Jamaica, leading by 130 on first innings, reached 78 for four in their second innings at the close on the second day of their second round clash in the Regional Four-Day match at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
In their second innings, Jamaica had contributions from left-hander Simon Jackson who made 22 and Danza Hyatt 28, while the not out batsmen were nightwatchman Andrew Richardson and skipper Tamar Lambert yet to score.
Earlier, Barbados lost wickets steadily and only left-hander Omar Phillips with a fighting 67, showed any resistance along with Jonathan Carter, who scored 26, to add 51 for the fourth wicket. Nikita Miller bagged 5-25 for Jamaica.
Scores: Jamaica 287 & 78-4; Barbados 157.
