The Overseer for the Mabaruma/Hosororo Neighbourhood Democratic Council died last night after
smashing his motorcycle into a stationary 5,000 kg truck.
According to a resident, around 21:00 hrs, Devon Romascindo rode his motorcycle into a truck parked on the right hand side of the road and apparently died on the spot. The body of the father of five was taken to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital.
Residents are blaming the accident on potholes and the absence of street lights on the roadway, which leads to Mabaruma.
He related that the truck belongs to P. Persaud Trucking Service of 48 Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara. The vehicle is being used to transport cargo for the Kumaka River revetment.
