-Team leaves today for games, hopes for the best in the Fair
The Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) President Colin Baker,
contributed $200,000 towards the University of Guyana (UG) Barbados Relay Fair team yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Education Sport ground, Carifesta Avenue.
With this donation and the GSDF motto “To assist with sport development in Guyana”, it can be clearly seen that the President does not only support, Football but also supports all sports which includes Track and Field.
Baker, who was a former athlete stated that it was a great pleasure to assist the University with their expenses and hopes that the team will do their best as they go out Saturday to participate in the relay.
Baker, who revealed that he was an ex-UG student, added that it’s always a joy for him to indulge in such activities as these and as a result would also continue to support sports in his country.
Daniela King, Assistant Registrar, Welfare of UG, expressed her gratitude to the President with his donations and hoped that the relationship which started between then continues in the future.
The team which comprises of 15 athletes will depart Guyana for Barbados at 2:45pm today.
