Golden Jags encamped
The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will be hosting a one day National Coaches Forum for national and potential national football coaches today commencing from 09:00hrs at the YMCA, Thomas Lands. The Forum will be administered by Mr. Jamaal Shabaaz, Head Coach, of the Guyana Men’s National Football team, the Golden Jaguars.
It is anticipated that approximately twenty-five (25) Coaches who are identified in this ‘National’ category will be in attendance at this Forum, which will bring Coaches abreast with extant developments and initiatives in the coaching of football.
Registration of participants at the Forum will commence from 8:30 am, followed by a brief opening ceremony from 9:00 am. In the absence of Mr. Franklin Wilson, President (ag.), currently overseas, brief opening remarks will be delivered by Mr. George Rutherford, Deputy General Secretary of the Guyana Football Federation.
Meanwhile, the local contingent of the National Men’s Football team, the Golden Jaguars, will be encamped from today to commence official preparation for competition in the third stage of the FIFA Brazil 2014 World Cup qualification preliminaries. Members of the squad will be encamped at the Raddison Suites Hotel in Georgetown, under the keen eyes of Head Coach, Jamaal Shabaaz, and Assistant, Wayne Dover.
In February, the team is scheduled to play in a number of friendly international games in the Caribbean, against teams from Trinidad and Tobago on the 15th and 17th, St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the 20th and Grenada on the 23rd. The team then returns to Guyana to play Guatemala at the Guyana National Stadium on February 29.
