Georgetown – Winston George, one of Guyana’s Olympic Qualifiers for the 2012
London Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for 27 July – August, paid a courtesy call on British High Commissioner Mr. Andrew Ayre and his Deputy Mr. Michael Kearney.
George was accompanied by Colin Boyce, President of the Athletics Association of Guyana who informed of George’s preparation for the Games including a training stint in Jamaica for five months starting yesterday to further improve on his Olympic qualifying time.
George’s qualifying time is 45.86 seconds which was achieved at the 2011 ALBA Games in Venezuela and is optimistic that after his training stint in Jamaica he can come down to a more competitive 45.0 seconds.
The High Commissioner wished Mr. George every success in preparation for the Games and encouraged him to keep focussed and do his best so that he brings home an Olympic medal for his country.
