National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed MS has organized two Annual Cycle Programmes for Mashramani sponsored by National Sports Commission.
On Sunday, February 05 a 40 Miles Cycle Road Race commencing from the Demerara Harbour Bridge at 09:00hrs will be staged. It proceeds to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to the Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.
The first (6) finishers will receive prizes, the first (2) Juniors, (2) Veterans will also receive prizes. (6) Prime Prizes to be won during the course of the race.
The defending champions are – Seniors – Alonzo Greaves who won in 1hr/43Mins/26.52Secs, Juniors – Paul DeNobrega, Veteran- Raymond Newton.
The other event is set for Saturday, February 11 from 09:00hrs at the National Park Circuit.
The 2011 Winners were – School Boys & Invitation – 35 Laps – Alonzo Greaves in 1Hr/17Mins/58.42Secs; Juveniles – Leon Haymer – 23Mins/48Secs and Veteran O-50 yrs – 5 Laps – Lancelot Rose – 14 Mins/20Secs.
Director of Sport, Neil Kumar is expected to distribute the prizes to the respective winners.
