Four days after she was arrested by a female rank of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Anna Regina Car Park, 27-year-old Danwanttie Ramdyal remains in police custody at Aurora.
The mother of two and a supervisory officer in charge of enhancement workers, police said, will make a court appearance today at Anna Regina.
Ramdyal’s mother was present at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday, accompanied by an advocate of the Women’s Advisory Bureau.
This newspaper understands that Ramdyal’s parents have sought legal advice.
Meanwhile, the police are maintaining that an arrest warrant was issued by former Magistrate, Maxwell Edwards, since 2005.
Police have also said that Ramdyal was charged and appeared once at the Charity Magistrate’s Court. The law enforcement officers have further maintained that Ramdyal had fled the jurisdiction to neighbouring Venezuela and often changed her identity.
While police are maintaining their side of the story (case), Anita Persaud, Ramdyal’s mother, is maintaining that her daughter was never charged or never received any summons to attend court. Persaud is further alleging that her daughter was never informed by the police to attend court.
She said her daughter worked with one Lalbachan, the owner of “Big Bird”, for little over a year almost eight years ago and had been interviewed several times by police officers at Charity.
Subsequently, after it was reported by Lalbachan that over $100,000 worth of items went missing from his store.
After those two visits to the station on separate occasions, Persaud said that her daughter remained on the Coast and even revisited one of the stations to deal with a separate issue.
The angry mother said that her daughter was arrested on Friday last and taken to the Aurora Police station.
On Saturday last, three women after learning of Ramydal’s plight visited the Aurora police station but were not allowed to visit the incarcerated woman.
