Indian National, Dilip Mursani, of Owen Street, Kitty on Wednesday evening last,
was presented with the first prize, a Toyota IST motorcar, at the official drawing of Survival Supermarket’s “Joy of Christmas” promotion.
A gathering of approximately 30 persons, including employees, witnessed the event at the supermarket’s Vlissengen Road branch. The promotion started on December 2nd last year and ended on January 15th last, when at that very location the winners at the promotion were determined by public participation in a wheel-spinning process.
The second prize of US$500 and a trip for two to Barbados, was won by Parvati Jadenauth, while the third prize of five recliner sofas was distributed among Shalila Hanif of Industry; Hemavati Mohabir of D’Andrade Street, Kitty; Claude Blackmoore of Campbellville Housing Scheme; Pradeep Abdool of Subryanville and Sharon Ifill of Amla Avenue, Prashad Nagar.
Twenty hampers, valued between $5,000 and $20,000, were also won, with Anthony Alphonso of Ruimzeigt Gardens having the distinction of winning two

The hampers were provided by De Sinco Trading, Singh’s Confectionery, Ansa Mc Al, M. Beepat and Sons, M&D Trading, Top Brands, Carib Foods, Brydens, and Sun Foods.
Customers qualified for the promotion by making purchases not less than $5,000 at any one time during the promotion dates. Manager of the Vlissengen Road location, Mr. Rakesh Arjune, while avoiding to declare the value of the car, stated that “the promotion was the company’s way of giving back to the society and was definitely worthwhile.”
An elated Mursani declared that he has been shopping at Survival Supermarket over the past 13 years and it is the first time he ever won anything in his life.
